Sourcing & Ethics
Ethical sourcing and sustainable practices are incredibly important to me as a small, independent jeweler. It’s very important to me that the work is not contributing to ethically questionable practices. There are several things that I do to ensure that my work is aligned with my values.

Material Recycling
I prioritize using recycled metals, when possible. I am happy to use a client’s own materials- recycling stones and gold from a family piece etc. (In fact, giving heirloom pieces a new life is actually one of my favorite kinds of projects to do!) I also work with a casting house that casts using post-consumer gold- gold that is already in circulation- to reduce the impact that comes with the need for fresh mining.

Ethical Stone Sourcing
While it is very difficult to verify the origin of every stone, due to the state of the supply chain in this industry, I work with several very trusted suppliers. These suppliers work directly with small mines, who are dedicated to operating with ethical practices, and usually cut the stones in-house, so they can trace origin and labor practices from the source. Otherwise, I do my best to use gemstones with certifications when possible, although certifications are not yet a standardized practice. For diamonds, I prefer to use antique or post consumer diamonds- these stones are ones that have already been in circulation for some time and are being repurposed. I liken these to buying a fur coat second hand- the coat has already been made, so you are not directly contributing to any harm. I am also happy to use lab grown or Canadian mined diamonds by request.

Small Batch Production
So as to minimize excess waste and cost, all my work is made as one-of-a-kinds or made-to-order. Since most of my work is bespoke, most new work will be made with it already having a specific home to go to. Fine jewelry is inherently more sustainable than its fast-fashion counterpart, since it's about creating timeless designs that are meant to last. The work that I make is made with high quality materials and craftsmanship, so that has the longevity to be loved and worn for years and years to come.
